the IRIS issue
Welcome to Issue No. 7
The Iris Issue
Sometimes we stumble upon the unexpected. Other times we find meaning in the mess. Most of all, we are always finding home. Whether through practical or philosophical means we want to know more about who we are, where we belong, and how and when we are going to get there.
A definition of the physical iris within our eyes alludes to the ability of adjustment to light. With this issue CRÉATEUR asks, how will you adjust? How can you continue to look deeper and find your niche—find you?
For many, finding your niche has become synonymous with finding your ‘authentic self’. I’ll admit the ‘authenticity’ and ‘living your truth’ movements have left me feeling a bit icky on the inside. These movements, though started with good intentions, have left us with more questions than answers, sending us all on seemingly endless search parties to find ourselves. Feeling like we're behind in our quest when we haven't even stepped foot out the door yet. The truth is, we need to stop.
This IRIS issue is about finding and recognizing the ‘whens’ – when to fall, when to push, when to look deeper, when to crawl back home. It’s the new year and we are all looking in the mirror again. Who is this person we see? Is it someone we like? Are there some things that need changing? Are we living our best and most creative lives?
We hardly ever find the things we want when we search for them. We find the things we need when we just are, when we let go and simply be. Your journey may have started with a search party. Allow yourself to end it here. Not with your truth, but with trust—trust in yourself in each moment. Trust that what you need to find will find you first. Simply stay tuned and welcome it when it does.
Creatively,
